If I were a city…

May 12, 2015

If I were a city I think I would be New York City – I’m perpetually in a rush, love the bustle of city life and the thought of being able to shop, eat and drink 24/7.

I relish the feeling that you could never possibly absorb all that New York has to offer. In just one day you can visit some of the most amazing buildings in the world filled with so much history, beauty and art. Two of my all time favourite pieces of architecture – the Chrysler and the Guggenheim – are also right in the heart of this wonderful city.

NYC also has some of the most breathtaking outdoor attractions which you can experience for just a few of your hard earned pennies. Hop on a Citi bike and ride over the Brooklyn Bridge, take a romantic row on the lake at Central Park or see the city from a different perspective while you walk across the High LIne.

The obsessive compulsive side of me also loves the order and routine of the Manhattan grid. Whilst it may seem boring to some to call a street something as simple as “East 44th Street” or “3rd Avenue” – I think it makes complete sense. Whilst it’s easy to get lost in all this city has to offer, it’s very hard to physically get lost in such an organised grid.

In the five boroughs you can taste some of the best food in the world and experience the cultural diversity of so many nationalities. Think cronuts, empanadas, bagels, dumplings and chicken waffles (my mouth is watering just thinking about all that good food!) .

New York City is truly the city that doesn’t sleep and why would you want to when there is so much to be entertained by. My affection for New York is real – just thinking about it and looking at all these pictures makes me fall in love with this city all over again.

If you had to describe yourself as a city then which city would you be?
