Close your eyes and think of the most dreamy summer vacation with gorgeous seaside views, a book in one hand and a cocktail in the other…. and now open them and set your eyes on the magnificent suites at Bill & Coo!
For those who have been following TUQ, then you will know that I have recently relocated from Sydney to London and this has meant I will be living through 12 whole months of autumn/ winter weather.
Since I will be missing out on my steamy Australian summer, the bf and I decided to book a little summer mini-break to recharge our Vitamin D reserves before the big chill sets in! We were tempted to go back to Santorini (see my post here) but in the end we decided to try somewhere new and settled on the island of Mykonos.
Because it was the very end of the season we knew that it wouldn’t be as crazy as it is during peak season, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying ourselves as we celebrated our three days of summer!
We arrived in Mykonos and were promptly whisked from the airport up to the hotel where my jaw dropped. Look at that amazing view!
While we were checking in, we were pampered with some gazpacho made with local tomatoes, a taramasalata dip and some little chocolate deserts to top it off!
Feeling a little more human again, we were escorted down to our room which was absolutely stunning! Being the scandinavian lover that I am, the bf did an excellent job in picking the room with the timber finishes, exposed wooden beams covering the ceiling and a beautiful big egg shaped bath.
There was everything you could have asked for and more… a little nespresso machine, a tv neatly hidden behind the mirror, a fully stocked mini bar and a private balcony to lap up the salty sea breezes.
After a stroll around town and a few cocktails later, we went back to the hotel and accidentally dozed off listening to the sound of crashing waves. Feeling a little lazy, we ordered in burgers with truffle fries and devoured them in bed while watching the rugby (which is definitely the bf’s idea of a relaxing holiday night in!).
When we woke up in the morning, we strolled up to the deck and had breakfast overlooking the gorgeous infinity pool and the ocean. You can order whatever you like off the breakfast menu and keep eating until you are bursting at the seams. The greek yoghurt and local honey are particularly good and of course you always have to fill up on greek tomatoes which are so sweet and juicy.
We went off exploring in the morning (tour of the island coming soon), but came back to have a little R&R by the pool. Whilst there were lots of people enjoying the sun, no one was really interested in getting in the pool since it was quite windy and the temperature was only hovering around 25 celcius.
I was too tempted by the alluring water to sit on the sidelines so I jumped in and got the worst part over! It was surprisingly refreshing and not too cold as long as you kept yourself submerged out of the wind!
We spent the rest of the afternoon reading books, enjoying the sun and sipping on some delicious cocktails. (On a side note – I took the book Good Girl on the trip with me and it’s a must read for those of you that liked Girl on a Train or Gone Girl!).
We actually made it out for dinner the second night and came back to find the pool sparkling with teeny tiny fairy lights. If the bed hadn’t been so darn comfortable, then I could have easily slept outside under the stars looking at that magical view!
Although we only got to spend a few days at Bill & Coo, it was a perfect way to get in a little sun and sea before we head into the chilly winter months! If you are thinking of visiting Mykonos then I would highly recommend Bill & Coo for one of the most relaxing, beautiful summer holiday destinations I’ve ever been to!
